What is a controller overlay?
A controller overlay is a live visual of your gamepad on screen. It mirrors your buttons, triggers and analog sticks so viewers can see exactly what you press while you play.
How does a gamepad viewer work?
A gamepad viewer reads your controller through the browser’s native Gamepad API and updates the matching overlay in real time. Padcraft runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is installed and your inputs stay on your machine. You can also compare the main controller overlay tools.
How do I add a controller overlay to OBS?
Create your overlay in the configurator and copy the link. In OBS or Streamlabs, add a Browser source, paste the link, set the width and height, then resize it in your scene. The background is transparent, so only the controller shows. Step-by-step guide: add a controller overlay to your stream.
Can I customize my controller overlay?
Yes. Choose your controller, then change its colors, effects and individual part styles. You can also start from a finished design in the shop and personalize it from there.
Is the Padcraft configurator free?
Designing and previewing your overlay is free, with no account needed. Standard accounts can publish a permanent link for a one-time $1.99 payment, while the Premium and Creator plans include larger link allowances.
Does it work with Streamlabs and other software?
Yes. Any streaming or recording software with a browser source works. OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch Studio and similar tools all accept the same transparent link. If the input looks delayed, follow the controller overlay lag checklist.
